The Snow of Yesterday

For this piece of work, the premise was to pick a haiku poem and create a booklet that represents it in a non literal way. The goal was to not illustrate the poem representing the imagery but to show the imagery in a way that was subjective to who was viewing the booklet. This piece follows the pink accent of the circle to represent the metaphor that the snow is just like the pink cherry blossoms represented on the second spread.

Poem

“The Snow of Yesterday” By: Koshigaya Gozan

The snow of yesterday

that fell like cherry blossoms

is water once again

Sketching Concepts

Small representations of what a snow flake could look like non literally as well as representations of how to visualize the idea of yesterday.

Iterating

Use of negative space and iterating in illustrator, having the words “fall” like snow and representing yesterday with the use of a lower opacity grey, almost as if it is in the past.

Color Theme

This is the direction of most of the pages, On the right is the exact color palette of the accent spread. Along with the color iterations of how the cherry blossom falling was represented.
